Family photography is something that is so meaningful to me! Having updated family portraits as your kiddos grow and change throughout the years is immeasurable. Imagine sitting with your kids 5, 10, even 15 years from now. What is it about this time in their lives that you want them to remember? How do you want them to feel? Taking family portraits isn’t just about the perfect sunset, the new outfits, a good hair day, and everyone saying “cheese”. It’s your chance to freeze a tiny glimpse of your kid’s lives so that when they look back at these photos years from now, they’re reminded how loved they are.

We only have a short time with our families while our kids are young and living under our roofs. These days won’t come back to us, so we have to grab every moment that we can. There will never be the perfect time to take family pictures. There’s always another pound to lose, or a few more grays to cover. This is your family, your life, your story. Don’t let the moments pass away while you wait for the right time. That time is NOW.

Your family portrait collection includes a combination of digital files + product credit (excludes digital-only collection) to apply toward the purchase of wall art, albums & prints. It’s my goal to make sure that you not only have the digital files that you can store and share but also something tangible — a printed art piece from your photo session. Digital files are wonderful, but they’re not archival. Technology changes fast, but a printed image can last for years! When you choose the Classic or Classic Plus collection, you’ll have the flexibility to choose the perfect way to display your new photos.

How do I choose outfits for our family portraits?

Such a great question! I usually say start with the colors in your house. Do you prefer neutrals? Bold color? maybe more monochromatic? Let your home be the base for your color palette since you’ll probably want to place them around various rooms. Once you decide on your color scheme, pick mom’s outfit first and build off of hers. I have a handy dandy guide to help you in choosing outfits and colors when you book your session.

When is the best time of year to schedule family pictures?

I recommend breaking out your calendar. What times of the year are the easiest for you? What type of foliage do you like? Fall is a wonderful time to photograph, but if your kiddos are involved in sports and other activities, you may want to avoid scheduling hassles and aim for a late summer session. It’s really personal preference.

How soon in advance should we schedule our photos?

As soon as you are able to find a date that works, grab it! My calendar fills very quickly, and it’s hard to get a last-minute session. I recommend booking at least a month in advance.

How long does a family portrait session last?

Depending on how many locations we use, your session will last about an hour. I like to shoot in the evening about an hour before sunset for that warm flattering light.

How long will it take to see our finished family pictures?

Once we’ve wrapped up your session, it will take about 10-14 days for me to hand edit your images. Each image is retouched to remove blemishes and flyaway hairs.

I will include both color and a few black & white images as well.

Do we get all of the digital files?

Yes! No matter which family portrait collection you choose, you will receive all of the retouched digital files and a print release. A typical session will have at least 25 images, but usually many more.

* I do not offer RAW or unedited files. No exceptions.

Will you retouch blemishes or scratches?

Absolutely! I will hand edit every image in your gallery to make sure that it’s print-ready. I want you to LOVE your images, so retouching is always included.
