Your Senior Photos

Senior Photos don’t have to be boring and stiff.  While some schools require you to take a few senior pictures at the school to be in included in the yearbook, they don’t have to be your official senior photos.  Consider hiring a photographer who will document your 12th year by telling YOUR story and showing off your personality.  Someone like me!  I have been photographing seniors and families in northern Illinois for several years, and each new client I meet, brings something unique and fun in front of my lens.

I have been so lucky to photograph so many seniors from Crystal Lake South High School.  Crystal Lake is such a fun area with it’s charming downtown, unique beaches, and beautiful park settings.  There is a setting for every senior’s style!

Senior Guys

I think there tends to be this idea that guys don’t like to have their picture taken as much as girls.  That’s not always the case.  When I first met Dylan, he was a little shy in front of the camera.  But, as we started to talk and move through our shots, he really loosened up and relaxed.  He’s a total natural in front of the camera.  The more we talked, he told me about his plans to head off to college in the fall.  I could tell how much he was looking forward to finishing out his senior year and start the next chapter of his story.  His personality really began to come out.

Tell Your Story

Changing locations can give your photos a completely different look and add variety to your images.  But, if you can, choose locations that are important to YOU and help tell your story.  Dylan really wanted to use the quarry for a few of his images.  This is one of my favorite spots in Crystal Lake, but it has even more meaning to Dylan.  He has worked at the quarry in the wake board area during his high school years.  We were able to not only get some great shots with the beautiful scenery, but also show off a spot that is important to him.  Years later, he’ll pull out these images and remember the fun he had working here over the summers.

Your School

Our last stop was to the high school.  Dylan was the quarterback for the Gators Football team this year and he wanted to snap a few shots on the school grounds.  Even if you’re not an athlete, taking a few images at school can be such a great way to end your session.  Your high school is a HUGE part of telling your senior story.  Afterall, you’ve spent the last 4 years here!
