It’s Senior Year

Congratulations!  It’s your senior year.  You’ve worked so hard to get here.   All of the early mornings, classes (both online and in-person), homework, and extracurriculars have led you here.

This year may not be what you thought it would be — COVID has really put a damper on things and created some challenges.  But this is YOUR year, and you DESERVE to be celebrated!

You’re ready to spread your wings and take on the world, BUT before you start your next chapter…let’s capture this one.  Let’s give them something to talk about with an unforgettable senior portrait session tailored just for you!

Choose Your Collection

Your senior portraits collection includes a combination of digital files + product credit (excludes digital-only collection) to apply toward the purchase of wall art, albums & prints. It’s my goal to make sure that you not only have the digital files that you can store and share but also something tangible — a printed art piece from your session.  Digital files are wonderful, but they’re not archival.  Technology changes fast, but a printed image can last for years!  When you choose the Classic or Classic Plus collection, you’ll have the flexibility to choose the perfect way to display your new photos.

how it works

I am thrilled that you are considering booking your senior portraits with me.  I know that finding the right senior portrait photographer that fits your style and what you’re looking for is hard work!  If you’ve landed here, you’ve already decided you like my work, but now you want to see how everything works if we’re a good fit, and [of course] see some numbers.  Let’s walk through the senior portraits session timeline from start to finish.

Planning your senior portraits

Once your session is booked, we’ll find a time to plan out all of the details.  We’ll start with your interests and style.  Knowing the things that you are most drawn to will help us choose things like locations, outfits, and maybe even props. You’ll also have access to my Senior Lounge page that’s full of details about how to prepare for your session with tips & tricks to help you look your best.

Session Day

On the day of your session, we’ll begin shooting about an hour before sunset.  This is my favorite time of day because the sun sits a little lower in the sky and gives off a flattering warm glow.  For most sessions, we’ll use 2 locations, but if you have your heart set on 3, we can make that happen as long as they’re close to each other.  We’ll also leave some time for outfit changes.  I will bring along a pop-up changing room so that you can switch outfits without having to crouch in the back seat of the car.  (it’s super fancy!)  The whole session will last about an hour to 90 minutes.

your questions

when should senior portraits be taken?

Such a great question!  Once you have finished your Junior year, you can start thinking about your senior pictures.  As far as the time of year, it really depends on your style and personality.  Decide which season suits you best.  Are you hoping to wear skirts, shorts, or sundresses?  Then a summer or spring session may be perfect for you.  Do you like to wear jeans and sweaters, scarves and hats?  You may enjoy a fall session best.

What should I wear for my senior pictures?

I recommend having at least 2 outfits:  something dressy and something casual.  As we plan your session, I will help you with suggestions for how to complete your outfits.  You get receive a guide assisting you in what types of styles and colors complement your individual body type and skin tone.

If you want to include a 3rd outfit, it’s fun to include things like a shirt from the college you’ll be attending or your sports jersey…whatever makes you, YOU!

WHere are the best places to take senior pictures in sycamore and dekalb?

There are so many great spots around Dekalb county to use for your senior photos.  Some ideas are downtown Sycamore or Dekalb, the Sycamore Park, the Elwood House in Dekalb, and many more.  We want your senior portraits to be a reflection of YOU, so we’ll work together to find the perfect locations that mean the most to you and help tell your story.

How long does a senior portrait session last?

Depending on how many locations we use, your session will last between an hour and 90 minutes.  This gives us plenty of time to travel between locations and for outfit changes.

How long will it take to see my finished senior portraits?

Once we’ve wrapped up your session, it will take about 10-14 days for me to hand edit your images.  Each image is retouched to remove blemishes and flyaway hairs.

I will include both color and a few black & white images as well.

Do we get all of the digital files?

Yes!  No matter which senior portrait collection you choose, you will receive all of the retouched digital files and a print release.  A typical session will have at least 25 images, but usually many more.

* I do not offer RAW or unedited files.  No exceptions.

Will you retouch blemishes or scratches?

Absolutely!  I will hand edit every image in your gallery to make sure that it’s print-ready.  I want you to LOVE your images, so retouching is always included.
